Recycle your construction waste

Together we can send less construction waste to landfill by changing the way we plan, design, build and dispose.

Where to recycle your construction waste

Looking to reduce construction waste on your building site? Start with the Construction Waste Recycling Directory.

The Directory below lists local companies in Tauranga and the Bay of Plenty region that accept construction and demolition materials like concrete, timber, steel, and more — so you can recycle instead of sending it to landfill.

What is construction waste management?

Construction waste includes leftover materials from building, renovating, or demolishing — things like wood, concrete, bricks, and metal. In Tauranga, nearly 23% of all waste at transfer stations comes from construction and demolition. Even more ends up in private cleanfill sites across the Bay of Plenty. But landfill isn’t the only option. With the Construction Waste Recycling Directory, you can find better ways to manage this waste — keeping useful materials in circulation and out of the ground.

Why reduce construction waste?

Reducing construction waste helps:

  • cut down on landfill use
  • save money on disposal costs
  • protect the environment
  • support a circular economy in the Bay of Plenty.

Even small steps - like recycling old concrete - make a big difference.

Plan ahead with the Site Waste Management Plan

To make waste reduction easier, we’ve created a Guide to Site Waste Management Planning and a Site Waste Management Plan Template. These tools help builders and contractors plan how to manage waste before work starts — making it easier to recycle and reuse materials on-site.
