Tauranga City Council invites tenders for this contract for which the works/services comprise: The Durham Street Bus Hub will operate as the primary public transport facility within central Tauranga. While most passengers are anticipated to start and end their trips here initially, transfers to other bus services will become more common as service improvements are made over the coming years. This project presents an opportunity to create a safe and unique sense of place to support high demand bus users interchanging to and from the city centre. The primary objective is to improve public transport access and user experience to, from and through the city centre while promoting and facilitating high quality urban design outcomes in the city centre – particularly through the provision of high-quality street environment.
These enhancements include installation of bespoke bus shelters including the foundation works equipped with increased lightening, CCTV cameras, Real time information and display panels to deter anti-social behaviours. The project also includes other construction work activities such as raingarden removal, stormwater works, kerb-realignment, footpath reinstatement, concrete pavement and relocation of streetlights. Additional safety improvements will involve a new pedestrian crossing at Durham/Elizabeth Street intersection, along with tactile paving, road markings, traffic signs, and bus stops.
This opportunity enables respondents to contribute to a significant safety initiative and make a tangible impact in enhancing road safety for all users.
Please note that bus shelters, including display panels, CCTV cameras, shelter lighting, and display panels, are procured separately and are not included in this procurement.
