The Papamoa East Interchange (PEI) is a multi-phase civil infrastructure works programme that provides access to development land at the east end of Papamoa, allowing for further homes and new urban centres for the Golden Sands, Wairakei and Te Tumu areas. The new Papamoa East Interchange will be constructed at the eastern end of Te Okuroa Drive and will provide direct on and off access to State Highway 2.
Enabling works phases 1 and 2 are already underway. Phase 1 consists of the preparatory earthworks, pre-compaction and settlement of land areas scheduled for future fill as part of phase
Phase 2 consists of an extension of Te Okuroa Drive and an intersection between Te Okuroa and a future new Sands Avenue.
Phase 3 (the subject of this procurement process) consists of the construction of the State Highway interchange itself and also includes the completion of the connections between Sands Avenue and Te Okuroa Drive.
Description of Contract Scope
At the time of tender close, the Principal's design will be less than 70% complete. The Principal will continue to develop the design to 100% completion after the tender closes.
This procurement process includes the Pre-Construction Services work that will include
undertaking of specified proof tests required to validate the Principal's Rammed Aggregate Piers (RAP) design and methodology for ground improvements (GI).
Other Pre-Construction Services include participation in design, risk and cost reviews to support the Principal with a decision to proceed to proceed with the Contract Works at the end of the Pre-Construction Services period.
