The Design Your Own Helmet competition is back for another year.
The annual contest gives Tauranga and Western Bay of Plenty primary, intermediate, and high school students and teachers a chance to win their own design professionally painted on a helmet by local airbrush artist Anthony Brodie.
Last year the judges had a tough job with over 600 entries and some amazing artistic ability on display. Entrants really let their imaginations run wild with the winning creations featuring robots, flowers, a celebrating soccer player, and even a bikini-clad surfer about to get the wave of her life.
“Riding a bike is a great active way to get to school and wearing an approved and correctly fitting helmet is vital,” says Tauranga City Council’s Director of Transport, Brendan Bisley.
“We are big supporters of kids riding bikes and this annual competition is a superb way for students and teachers to put their creative skills to use while reiterating such an important safety message.”
Entering is easy, simply download the template below and start getting creative! All the instructions and entry information are in the document.
The last day for entries is Friday, February 25 and winners will be announced in April once the 6 winning helmets have been selected and designed.
