Discoloured water for Te Papa Peninsula – All day today - Wednesday 05 July 2023

Discoloured water for Te Papa Peninsula – All day today - Wednesday 5 July 2023

A water mains shutdown on Fraser Street today, Wednesday 5 July, has caused discolouration of water to homes and businesses on the Te Papa Peninsula (including Greerton, through the Avenues and down to the Tauranga CBD)

The discolouration of water is caused from naturally-occurring iron and manganese that deposits on the inside of the pipes and gets disturbed by the flow during a water main shutdown.

While our contractors are working onsite (all day today),  the water is safe to drink but it may take some time for the discoloured water to work through the system.

If you are concerned about the discolouration, you can run the outside tap for ten minutes to clear the lines – but be aware the discolouration may continue throughout the day until our contractors are finished. Otherwise please call our Contact Centre 07 577 7000.
