Tauranga City Council is proposing an Alcohol Fees Bylaw to enable us to set our own alcohol licensing fees. Current alcohol licensing fees are set in government legislation and have not changed since 2013.
The proposed bylaw would mean we would have the option to consider how licensing is funded in Tauranga. It would allow for a greater proportion of licensing costs to be funded by alcohol licensing fees instead of general rates.
We are seeking your feedback on this change and want to know how you think alcohol licensing should be funded in Tauranga. Consultation is open from Friday, 31 January to 5pm on Friday, 7 March 2025. For more information and to have your say, visit letstalk.tauranga.govt.nz/alcoholfeesetting
