Candidate profile

My principal place of residence is in the Te Papa General Ward area. I am also standing for Mayor.

I'm Andrew Caie, A self-employed Physiotherapist and Tauranga local with a strong desire to improve our community.

I'm running for council because I believe we have been given a golden opportunity to make Tauranga a leading city in New Zealand and we need energy and vision to complete the job.

Tauranga requires a revitalized CBD to be its cultural and economic hub, efficient public transport to alleviate our congestion, and to use and nurture our world-renowned landscapes. All of these things have been set in motion. For too long council plans have been started and cancelled. That's why I am offering my time, energy and abilities to serve the People of Tauranga for the next 3 elections. So we can complete the 10 year plan and Tauranga can reach its potential!
Together we can get the job done!

Candidate profile

My principal place of residence is in the Te Papa General Ward area. I am also standing for Mayor.

I stand for election again because I sincerely believe that the ratepayers of Tauranga have been poorly served over the last few years. Many of the projects and planning decisions are just so far away from what the ratepayers want, or can afford. I believe in a management structure that reflects the views of ratepayers. And I believe that they should be involved in all aspects of Council functions. Having previously served on Council I am familiar with how the system works. The Council should be led by the elected members who set policy for staff to implement. I am retired and can invest all of my time to the city. I am experienced in business having advanced from apprentice to CEO, have been a part of many successful businesses in Tauranga and overseas with a management style of delegating and allowing people to grow in their roles.

Candidate profile

My principal place of residence is in the Te Papa General Ward area.

Terry Molloy. Married to my best friend Robyn. Lived in Tauranga all my life. As a candidate for Te Papa my vision is to create a thriving community where businesses prosper, the vulnerable are supported, and the environment is protected. We need councillors that have established their ability to work collaboratively. My history is dairy farming, orcharding, contracting, property development, Board Chair and nine years a city councillor where I prioritised Tauranga city's best live, work and play interests.

In planning for the future we need to harness the energy, ability and resources of our City partners; Western Bay, the Regional Council, Bay of Plenty Iwi, Waka Kotahi and our business community.

Kaimais to the sea. Tauranga is exploding. 280 thousand people plus by 2050 - only 26 years away. We must get it right.

We need councillors that understand our past and have a vision for the future.

Candidate profile

My principal place of residence is not in the Te Papa General Ward area.

An enrolled barrister and solicitor of the High Court with a head for constitutional law. I have deep roots in Tauranga as a fourth-generation resident. Currently an advocate for Kidz Need Dadz and my association goes back 20 years, both in governance and at the coalface.

I am a deeply pragmatic problem solver, that is how I got the name Mr Fixit during my governance role. Also well-tuned to helping the public due to my experience dealing with high conflict situations in family court matters. My standard operating advice is if you always operate at a high level of conduct, then it is difficult to go wrong. I will be taking this same approach into council.

A new fresh-faced council will need to pause and consolidate, some financial temperance is required. However, CBD businesses and hospitality have suffered enough, they deserve some respite to ensure vibrancy in our city.

Candidate profile

Gate Pa School.
Tauranga Intermediate.
Tauranga Boys' College.
Waikato University.
Past Director of Tauranga based business grown to employ 300 people.
Owner Tauranga CBD businesses.

I have a genuine concern for value as we rebuild the CBD - Central Tauranga is not dead. It is experiencing enormous growth pain. The next four years will see the need for personal input by your Councillor - knowing what is going on daily and reacting accordingly will stop a repeat of issues, such as those which crippled Cameron Road businesses for two years.

Our challenge, as the Commissioners depart, lies in maintaining The Vision's vitality, keeping the Ten-Year Plan on course, and adhering to budget constraints. Capital expenditure is essential to elevate our current infrastructure - doing the work once and well is the key to securing best value.

Vote for Rod Taylor to represent Te Papa.

Candidate profile

My principal place of residence is in the Te Papa General Ward area.

I have lived in Tauranga for the past 25 years, I work at Tauranga Primary School. I am past president and life member of Papamoa Football Club, an Executive Committee member at Tauranga Citizens Club and Board of Trustees secretary at Tauranga Special School.

I heard recently the saying-who am I, I am nobody-are you nobody too? For many of us that is how we are feeling with Tauranga City Council. We are not being heard. They are not listening to us, the ratepayers.

Now must be the time for us to tighten the reins on Council spending. To protect our rate increases as much as we can I feel it's time for the community of Tauranga to regain control, to say enough is enough and get Tauranga City Council back to it's core responsibilities, and that is why I have decided to run for Te Papa Ward.

Candidate profile

My principal place of residence is in the Te Papa General Ward area.

I am a new face to local politics and seek to be part of Tauranga's growing identity. I have managed and own various businesses, successfully delivering large and small projects. I like challenges and results. I will obtain the required information and/or data to enable Council to reach logical, economic, and valued outcomes. This will safeguard Tauranga's evolution.

My experiences will provide Tauranga Council with sound analytical input to all projects as to what is feasible, can be constructed and then maintained. I will provide effective leadership by communicating with and listening to rate payers to fully accommodate Tauranga needs. I will be innovative and confront all options to ensure all prospects are considered for the benefit of the ratepayers. Where practical, I will instigate the reduction and/or remove bureaucratic obstacles and influence that would impede Tauranga's development.

I look forward to working on your behalf in this regard.
