This website is owned and provided by the New Zealand Parliamentary Counsel Office / Te Tari Tohutohu Paremata (PCO), which is responsible for drafting and publishing most of New Zealand's legislation.

Bay of Plenty Regional Council

Bay of Plenty Regional Council

The Regional Council guides and supports the sustainable development of the Bay of Plenty. This includes the management of the effects of use of freshwater, land, air and coastal water.  The Regional Council considers land use consents (including earthworks), discharge consents, water consents and coastal consents, and also controls the use of septic tanks.

Western Bay of Plenty District Council

The Western Bay of Plenty District Council controls the area surrounding Tauranga City.  Its jurisdiction covers 212,000 hectares of coastal, rural and urban areas which are serviced by the townships of Waihi Beach, Katikati, Omokoroa, Te Puna, Te Puke and Maketu. The Western Bay of Plenty District Council controls land use and subdivision activities within their region.

The Quality Planning site has been developed by the Ministry for the Environment to provide information on planning in New Zealand for both the public and RMA practitioners. It provides guidance on resource management processes including flowcharts of the resource consent process.

The NZPI is the professional organisation representing planners, resource managers, urban designers and environmental practitioners in New Zealand. The organisation provides professional development courses for those already in the field of planning, or those thinking of becoming a planner.
