Candidate profile

My principal place of residence is not in the Arataki General Ward area.

I am passionate about Arataki and making improvements that benefit our community and the wider city.

Growing up in this area, I have seen the huge transformation it has undergone and believe I can provide the leadership that is needed to take Tauranga forward.

Our Council needs experienced governance as it transitions to a newly elected council.

As a current councillor for nearby Matamata-Piako District, I have the skills needed and strong knowledge of local government. I am a qualified RMA commissioner and have qualifications and experience in finance and marketing.

I have recently moved back to the Bay to represent you and Arataki as the city navigates the challenges of the rising cost of living and rapidly growing communities.

We need to do business smarter and work with neighboring Councils, local industry leaders and central government agencies to ensure we enhance our core infrastructure whilst allowing for future growth.

Candidate profile

My principal place of residence is not in the Arataki General Ward area.

I've been living in the Bayfair area for 33 years. I wasn't part of the council stood down by the Minister, but have previously served as a councillor.

I'd continuously strive to foster a cohesive team - ideally a mix of fresh new faces and experienced ones. Inflation and the cost-of-living crisis means it's now critical to defer council's debt-fuelled spending plan, rather than resorting to selling assets.

I was instrumental in implementing a Rates Cap, which stood for many years and helped with rates affordability.

My goal is to introduce more prudent limits on rates increases and refocus expenditure for a growing city e.g. transportation and supply of housing through effective planning and delivery of supporting infrastructure, rather than expensive buildings planned for the CBD - something we don't urgently need.

Let my experience help deliver the city we need through effective decision-making that's representative of the community's wishes.

My principal place of residence is in the Arataki General Ward area. I am also standing for Mayor.

As a local business owner deeply rooted (pun intended) in our community, I'm on a mission to make Tauranga great again. Picture this: sustainable development, supporting small businesses, and upgrading local infrastructure (with less road works!) - all with a sprinkle of my dedication and a dash of my charm.

Rest assured, I won't just talk the talk; I'll listen, too! Your concerns will be my top priority, because let's face it, happy residents make for a happier Tauranga.

So, let's roll up our sleeves and get to work, because together, we'll transform Tauranga into the envy of every other town out there. Who's with me?

You talk, I listen. I am ready to be your local voice for Arataki with a fresh face and a fresh outlook.

Bringing solid commercial acumen (as an owner of two businesses) and having worked in senior roles within aviation, transport, logistics and construction, I can add a good dose of commonsense, professionalism and relatability.

Living on the Omanu-Arataki border, I was a member of an independent community panel, working collaboratively with Council and Commissioners, and achieving successful safety and access improvements in our neighbourhood.

My vision for Tauranga is excellence in governance and progressing our city sensibly and with care and my particular areas of interest are: community advocacy, housing supply, reducing crime, better transport.

We need to be better at really listening to residents, businesses and local iwi; and be brave and innovative in our approach.

Candidate profile

My principal place of residence is in the Arataki General Ward area.

Ratepayers need Councillors to be their champions, to stand up for them.

I undertake to advocate for a culture of listening, consulting, planning, and consulting again, before implementation of projects at Council. To work in a team that's looking forward without ego or agendas.

Living in Arataki, I have a vested interest in making that happen.

Having experience as a Hastings District councillor 2013-2017, being a business owner for 25 years, I know good governance and management is critical.

Tauranga City is a complex business with an annual income of $538 million, $7 billion of assets and $1 billion dollars of debt.

As we move from commissioners to local democracy, we need Councillors with backgrounds able to get up to speed quickly, represent our diverse communities and manage our rapid growth.

Please give me your Number 1 Vote, I won't let you down.

Candidate profile

My principal place of residence is not in the Arataki General Ward area.

I'm standing for council because we deserve representatives who are smart, driven, capable, and truly care about our future.

There are urgent issues to address like transport, housing, and infrastructure, and we must also prioritise community safety, accessibility, and our environment. I'm a mother, partner to a local builder, and business owner with over 20 years' experience delivering projects in the logistics, events, waste, and packaging industries. I've been on several advisory groups for industry and central government and understand how council operates. I've contributed to our community on boards (including Mount Business Association as Chair) and through starting the Gourmet Night Market. Council must become an on-time, on-budget organisation. I'll advocate for more transparency, clearer communication, and genuine community engagement.

We all deserve the best from our next council: a safe, thriving community; strong local economy; and sustainable future. I'm ready to represent Arataki and get to work.

Candidate profile

My principal place of residence is in the Arataki General Ward area.

Hello. I arrived in Mount Maunganui 30+ years ago and live in the Arataki ward. As per many, I have been disappointed with our previous dysfunctional council. Petty infighting has no place in council. Councillors need to work together cohesively for the betterment of Tauranga and its residents.

I own a local driving school business, which affords me the pleasure of meeting many of my Arataki neighbours. Yes, we talk about the never-ending roadworks, however, I am not a single-issue candidate. We need a council that prioritises the needs of its residents, makes sure we get value for our ratepayer dollar, and protects the affordability and lifestyle of Tauranga for all of us.

I am a rational thinker, a good listener and have a pragmatic approach. I am committed to our city and building on the good. I'd be honoured to represent you.

Remember: Vote - Van Der Beek.

Candidate profile

My principal place of residence is in the Arataki General Ward area.

I aspire to become Tauranga's youngest ever councillor at 26, but I come with entrepreneurial experience and a keen eye on the future of Tauranga.

I am a proud local who was raised here by my family. I am about to start my own family, and I am running for council to create a city that provides living & working opportunities for my own kids and grandkids.

We need a modern city that's safe for families, has great work and education opportunities, fantastic and accessible amenities, and a CBD we can collectively be proud of.

Tauranga needs to keep moving forward, and I see it as my responsibility to ensure every general and targeted ratepayers get transparent value for every dollar.

We need to live in a city where every citizen can trust that informed and responsible decisions are administered through good governance and strong leadership.

Candidate profile

My principal place of residence is not in the Arataki General Ward area.

A long-time resident of the Arataki ward for over 20 years, I am committed to ensuring it receives the attention it deserves. My extensive governance experience in both business and community organisations includes serving on the board of a nationwide business and chairing one of the city's largest sports clubs. With over 25 years of experience as a financial adviser, I possess comprehensive knowledge of business and finance and a deep understanding of our community. Strong financial management and accountability are essential for the new council. Projects need to be prioritised by listening to the community. I believe in addressing critical issues such as roading, housing, and managing the city's growth rather than focusing solely on specific areas like the CBD. For a councillor with a proven track record in governance, a community-minded perspective, and a commitment to bringing common sense to the council, I would greatly appreciate your support.
