How policies work

Policies support the decision making of Council, and ensure that the vision, mission and strategic direction of Council is consistently implemented. A policy is a statement of council’s position on a matter or issue.

Current policies

Boundary alteration

If your property has recently transferred from the Western Bay of Plenty District Council area to Tauranga City Council you need to take a look at the Western Bay of Plenty District Council’s policies and bylaws as they still apply to your property. If you have any questions please call our Policy Team on 07 577 7000.

Policy reviews

We review our policies from time to time to ensure they remain appropriate and meet the purpose they were designed for.

Some policies are required to be reviewed to meet legislative requirements. For example, we are required to have a Gambling Venues Policy and must review that policy at least once every three years. Other policies are reviewed either according to a review cycle decided by the Council (e.g. every five years) or when it is considered a policy no longer fully meets its purpose.

Get involved

Your feedback forms a key part of many of our policy development and review processes. Your skills and experience can be included in the future of our city. To see which policies are currently being reviewed go to the Have Your Say page.
