Taking your bins to kerbside
Place your bins at your kerbside by 7am on your collection day, putting them as close to the kerbside as possible. Please allow 30cm between the bins to ensure they can be collected and make sure your wheelie bin is facing the kerbside, so the lid opens to the road.
Where there is limited space on the kerbside, you can place your food scraps bin and glass bin directly in front of your wheelie bin.
Each bin is collected by a different truck, so your bins will be emptied at different times on your collection day.
You don’t need to buy tags for your Tauranga City Council bins – our kerbside service is different to Western Bay of Plenty District Council’s service, which requires prepaid tags for rubbish only.
Do you need help getting your bins to the kerbside?
Anyone who is unable to take their bins to the kerbside due to a physical disability or ailment is encouraged to contact council to see if they qualify for an assisted service, which will be free of charge.

Bins weren’t collected?
If your bin wasn’t collected, you should have received a sticker or tag letting you know why (e.g. overfilled or contained unaccepted items), however if you didn’t receive a sticker, please call us on 07 577 7000 so we can look into this for you.
