Candidate profile

My principal place of residence is not in the Welcome Bay General Ward area.

Living in Poike, raised in Maungatapu-Welcome Bay, I want my daughters to grow up in this community where everyone feels they belong and have something to contribute. I'm committed to listening to ideas and concerns of residents and will be an approachable and accessible representative. Nominated by local leaders, my journey from mischievous kid to head boy at TBC and now community advocate, reflects my deep connection to our neighborhoods.

With a diverse background from corporate banking to health, and leading collaboration between scientists with communities, I will focus on environmental health, road safety, accessibility, ensuring our infrastructure is fit for purpose. My goal is to make rates and housing affordable for all.

I'm dedicated to being a voice for our community, advocating for competent, collaborative leadership.

Let's work together to build a brighter future for Tauranga.

Candidate profile

My principal place of residence is not in the Welcome Bay General Ward area. I am also standing for Mayor.

For 21 years I have lived and raised a family in the Bay, 17 of those running my own business. I have seen Tauranga evolve and am aware of the problems the city is facing. I have experienced the bureaucracy and red tape that restricts progress, consuming time and money. In my mid-forties I have the motivation and leadership skills to bring practicality to planning and budgeting. To balance job creation with business development, I will focus on improving efficiency with processing times, especially building consents and rationalising the current budget rather than the neverending increasing of rates.

In addition, to name but a few, it will be important to keep traffic moving, improve infrastructure, bring common sense to city centre development and increase productivity overall.

Looking forward to the challenge.

Hi there, the name's Ethan. I'm looking at bringing a new future for us in Welcome Bay. A couple of the things you can expect from me as your councillor would be new retail opportunities and better transport to our city through increased parking and convenient travel options. I'm looking at bringing a young mind to this council so that we can make this city our happy home again!

Candidate profile

My principal place of residence is in the Welcome Bay General Ward area.

I grew up in Maungatapu, & served my apprenticeship as a Heavy Steel Fabricator in Mt Maunganui, where I am currently employed as a workshop foreman. I raised my family in Tauranga, & now reside in Welcome Bay. Many aspiring politicians, make promises they can't keep. The only promise I will make, is to take the time to review all information that is put in front of me diligently, and make appropriate decisions, that are in the best interests of both the city, & our neighbourhood. I intend to keep this promise, once elected as your representative.

Determined. Dedicated. Resilient. Ready
I have no quick or easy answers, but I can be a voice for sustainable change. Change happens when determined perseverance and resilience overcome life's obstacles.

My top three priorities are local business, youth and elderly, if all three are empowered and supported our community will thrive. Our city is struggling, our suburbs need help, our community needs support. We are only as strong as our most vulnerable.

I come from generations raised in Tauranga, with future generations still being raised here, utilizing the local schooling and transport systems. Ko Ngati Ranginui toku iwi. I have witnessed Tauranga's evolution, from decisions made to decisions revised.

Lets shape our future with purpose, unity and confidence. What and who makes changes, he tangata, he tangata, he tangata. It is people, it is people, it is people. We do! We make change together!

Having lived here almost my entire life, it's clear Welcome Bay Ward and Tauranga face significant challenges. We need councillors with new ideas, fresh perspectives and a strong commitment to action to turn it around.

My vision of our ward and city is a vibrant, smart and connected community that is a great place to live, work and play.

As a founder and local business owner, I have a proven track record of turning vision into reality. I know to plan effectively, lead teams, govern, listen, innovate, and most importantly, get things done.
