Blake Park is home to cricket, hockey, rugby, sevens and touch.
Update - 5 February 2025
We’re undertaking turf maintenance at Blake Park on Wednesday, 12 February (weather dependent), which is part of the realignment of the Sir Gordon Tietjens Field (located behind the University of Waikato Adams Centre for High Performance). As part of this work, we’ll be applying a natural, seaweed-based soil conditioner to help establish turf health and playing conditions for the upcoming winter season. Depending on weather conditions, people who live or work nearby may notice a temporary odour, however we’re taking steps to minimise this. Typically, any odour should dissipate within 24-48 hours. If you have any concerns or notice a strong smell, please contact us on 07 577 7000.
Active Reserves Master Plan
As a growing city, we’re dedicated to improving the capacity and quality of the city-wide network of venues for sports, recreation, and events to benefit community wellbeing.
We’ve embarked upon a programme of work which considers multiple opportunities for community sport, recreation, events and high-performance training across Tauranga’s network of active reserves. As part of the process, we’ve developed the Active Reserves Master Plan to help guide short, medium and long-term investments by Council. Read more about the Active Reserves Master Plan below.
