Candidate profile

My principal place of residence is in the Pāpāmoa General Ward area.

I am third generation to live, raise children, work, and retire here. My age brings experience, wisdom and rational consideration.

Change is inevitable. I want to see resources used as wisely and effectively as possible. My concern is for necessary, useful, and meaningful changes that make our city better now and for future generations. I want to see your money used as wisely and effectively as possible.

Infrastructure is a major concern and cost. I have building and project management experience, so have a well-rounded knowledge of infrastructure issues. I have experience working with Council systems.

Council has been through a disrupted time. We need councillors who care about the genuine needs of, and the impact, decisions have on locals. Councillors to serve you and your needs.

Ratepayers have felt disenfranchised and ignored in recent years. I will do my best to give you back your voice in decision making.

Candidate profile

My principal place of residence is in the Pāpāmoa General Ward area.

Recently retired, I now have time to serve our community and city and help rebuild a functional and democratic council.

I have lived in Pāpāmoa East for 18 years and most days you will find my partner and I either walking along our beautiful beach or the Wairakei Reserve.

I have had a rewarding career in business off the back of a Master's degree in Language and Literature and an MBA from the University of Auckland. Some of my career achievements include strategic partnership manager for the national airline of Mexico AeroMéxico, strategic planning manager for Fletcher Merchants and working for both Rotorua Lakes and WBOP District Councils. As a result, governance skills, business acumen and in particular working as part of a team are my key strengths.

I am here to champion the democratic process, and to work on improving our wonderful Papamoa community and city of Tauranga.

Candidate profile

My principal place of residence is not in the Pāpāmoa General Ward area. I am also standing for Mayor.

I am an engineer. I have a bachelors degree from Auckland University, and a Doctorate from Cambridge University. Born and raised in Tauranga, I have worked overseas and have been back in Papamoa for the last 20 years. Papamoa is a great place to live, but our rates are too high and spending is out of control. We need careful spending, realistic budgets and affordable rate increases. I would scrap the CBD projects. Council should get back to basics: water, roads and facilities. Papamoa needs better roads, more facilities, tsunami escape routes, cheaper housing, cycle paths. The council organisation needs to be fixed, it is top heavy, inefficient, and is wasting our money. Sensible spending and reducing waste is a better deal for ratepayers than just increasing rates. Council needs new faces who will reign in the out-of-control spending. Please elect a good team for Council.

Candidate profile

My principal place of residence is in the Pāpāmoa General Ward area.

I'm a proud Papamoa local, committed to serving our community. That's why I designed and helped spearhead the construction of the Papamoa War Memorial, to provide our own place to come together as a community. As a trusted member of the senior management team of a large company, I work alongside some of New Zealand's most talented leaders. I've learned what it takes to be part of a successful, high-performing team and will bring these business skills to Council. My priorities are clear: I want to redirect spending towards critical transport infrastructure, practice strong financial management to ensure Council is efficient during the cost-of-living crisis and manage growth so it doesn't diminish our coastal lifestyle. As the largest suburb in Tauranga, Papamoa deserves its fair share, and I am committed to championing our cause. Always willing to listen, let's work together to make Papamoa even better.

Candidate profile

My principal place of residence is not in the Pāpāmoa General Ward area.

I am on the border between Arataki and Papamoa and have chosen to stand in the Papamoa Ward as I see this as a huge growth area with amazing challenges and exciting prospects.

I have worked hard to gain the knowledge, education, expertise and experience in governance and mediation to represent you as an active and committed Councillor. I see the priorities for Tauranga and in particular Papamoa as: community engagement, rates affordability and a sustainable future via economic growth. I approach all challenges with researched quality information, working with others to form a consensus opinion that solves problems, an open mind and adoption of fair process to ensure that is in the best interests of all.

Tauranga has an opportunity to now move forward with a strong democratic voice and I look forward to meeting and listening to the people of Papamoa to clearly identify the important issues.
